Our Founder

Founder and CEO, Danica Dias started Grown Folks Company in honor of her family, culture, and legacy of her ancestors. Growing up in a big Louisiana Creole family, young Danica dreamed of the day when she would be ‘grown’. Her childhood was full of vibrant and loud family gatherings and celebrations. She, along with her sisters and cousins, were constantly educated on what they could and couldn’t do as Youngins. And all the while, the Youngins longingly observed the Grown Folks (the older adult family members) as they congregated together to gossip, drink, laugh, and dance. This was living. This was intoxicating. And this was what being Grown was all about.

After working for decades in the wine & spirits industry, Danica tapped into her love of wine, spirits, and home brewing. She saw an opportunity to create something different and special for those who had been left out of the conversation and for those whose tastes and preferences were not valued. At the start of Covid, Danica went to work in her kitchen and started formulating her first hard seltzer flavors. Just a couple years later, she completed the line up of Grown Folks beverages to include hard seltzer, wine & coming soon, beer!

Because that is what true ‘grown folk’ style is. Our family traditions to gather, be ourselves, and share in the soul food dishes, recipes and concoctions that have been passed down from generation to generation.
